Pinkbattercup, a self-described "tomboy" who grew up in the suburbs of Doylestown, Pennsylvania was inspired by singers such as Madonna, Mary J. Blige and 4 Non Blondes to pursue her goal of becoming a pop star. By age 13, she was navigating the Philadelphia club scene as a backup vocalist for rap groups and participating in local talent shows. A record executive was attracted to her sassy personality and invited her to join the female R&B band Basic Instinct. After the group dissolved, she launched her debut album Can't Take Me Home in spring 2000, co-writing several songs and watching it go multi-platinum. The rock-infused M!ssundaztood album gave her a Top 10 hit with "Raise Your Glass."
Hurts 2B Human was her eighth studio album. It debuted at No. It was well received by the critics. In addition to her music, Pink is an animal-rights activist and spokesperson for PETA. She claims that her nickname comes from the 1992 film Reservoir Dogs when friends noticed she looked like Mr. Pink.
