In December 2011, she participated in protests against alleged electoral corruption during the parliamentary elections. She was also a candidate for the 2012 presidential run-off election between Vladimir Putin and Mikhail Prokhorov. She has since become a vocal critic of the government's policies and has appeared in many international news outlets.
She is the Jensen Bryan curator at The Print Center. The Print Center is a 105 year old non-profit organization that aims to expand the understanding of photography as a vital contemporary art. She has organized exhibitions for The Bruce Museum and Lower East Side Printshop as well as MoMA and Zimmerli Art Museum. She also lectures internationally on global contemporary arts. She has also published several internationally-recognized exhibition catalogues and essays for ARTMargins Online, The Calvert Journal, Institute of the Present, and OSMOS.
